Your Comments Needed: Impact | PSE Contract Renewal

Dear WA FAB Network,

You have until November 30th to tell the Washington State Charter School Commission what you think about Impact | Puget Sound Elementary's (Impact | PSE) application to renew their charter school contract.

This is an important moment in the life of a charter school community. As mentioned on the Commission's Renewals page, this is when they, as the school's authorizer, must determine whether a charter school has met its public commitments to the children and families it serves, as well as to the community.

  • If they decide it has and approve the renewal, the school board and leadership will continue to have the privilege of operating that school.

  • If they decide it hasn't and don't approve the renewal, the school board and leadership could lose their contract to operate that school.

Here's some basic information about Impact | PSE:

So what do you think? Has Impact | PSE fulfilled its commitments to the children and families it serves and the communities around it? Based on your answer to that question, do you want the Commission to approve renewal of this school's contract? Here are some possible answers to consider:

  1. Yes, renew their contract for another 5 years.

  2. Yes/No, renew their contract with conditions (for example: renew for a shorter time period, with additional requirements).

  3. No, do not renew their contract.

While the final decision lies with the Commission they very much want to hear from families. Please share your opinions, reasons, and experiences with them in a written or oral public comment by November 30, 2022, and encourage other families and educators to do the same! Choose whichever way makes the most sense for you:

  • Send an email to charterschoolinfo@k12.wa.us

  • Make a phone call to 360-725-5511

  • Mail a written comment to P.O. Box 40996, Olympia, WA 98504-0996

  • Call or send an email by November 10th to sign up and give a written or oral public comment at the Commission's November 14th special meeting online and in Olympia(instructions may be found here and the meeting schedule here).

Yours in Community, WA FAB
