Your Comments Needed: Summit: Atlas Short-Term Contract Renewal Application
Dear WA FAB Network,
Summit: Atlas is the second school up for renewal or expansion this school year!
You have until Monday, October 9th to tell the Washington State Charter School Commission what you think about the school’s contract renewal application.
This is an important moment in the life of a charter school community. As mentioned on the Commission's Expansions & Renewals page, this is when they, as the school's authorizer, must determine whether a charter school has met its public commitments to the children and families it serves, as well as to the community.
If they decide it has and approve the renewal, the school board and leadership will continue to have the privilege of operating that school.
If they decide it hasn't and don't approve the renewal, the school board and leadership could lose their contract to operate that school.
Here's some basic information about Summit: Atlas:

So what do you think? Has Summit: Atlas fulfilled its commitments to the children and families it serves and the communities around it? Based on your answer to that question, do you want the Commission to approve renewal of this school's contract? Here are some possible answers to consider:
Yes, renew their contract for the maximum amount possible (likely 3 years in this case).
Yes/No, renew their contract with conditions (for example: renew with additional requirements).
No, do not renew their contract.
While the final decision lies with the Commission they very much want to hear from families. Please share your opinions, reasons, and experiences with them in a written or oral public comment by October 9, 2023, and encourage other families and educators to do the same! Choose whichever way makes the most sense for you:
